The Men of the Parish Of Killean And Kilchenzie War Memorial.
“A memorial to 22 men of the parishes of Killean and Kilchenzie, was unveiled at Glenbarr. The monument is in the form of a cairn surmounted by a cross, and was designed by Mr Alexander N Paterson A.R.S.A., Glasgow. The unveiling was performed by Sergeant Edward MacDonald, D.C.M., late 8th Argylls, and Mrs Archibald Galbraith, who lost two sons in the war, placed the parish wreath at the base. His Grace the Archbishop of York gave the address. The Archbishop said that he had taken part in the dedication of some 200 war memorials, but none of these had appealed more strongly to his heart than this Kintyre one, as for 28 years he had spent all of part of his rest time in the district in Largie Castle.“
