Notes:
Archibald Thomson: Born in Drumlemble, Campbeltown, Argyllshire, to Archibald and Margaret Thomson. Archibald's DCM Citation: 79634 Corporal A. Thomson, 176th Tunnel Company, R.E. (formerly No. 1424, 1st/8th Btn., Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, T.P.) (LG 9 Oct, 1515). For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at Givenchy on 25th August, 1915, when as Non-Commissioned Officer in charge of the relief at work in a mine he went down the gallery immediately after the end had been blown in to try and rescue the men at the face. He could not get on as the gas fumes put out his light, but On the arrival of an Officer with a torch he followed him and dragged him out after he had been overcome by the fumes. Corporal Thomson collapsed when half-way out and had himself to be rescued.
